Male Survivor of Rape: This Was Not Suppose to Be My Journey!

As an innocent child never protected, I wear a mask that protects ME within the prison of the shadows. I can’t let you in! If I can’t understand me, how can anyone else.

I keep my eyes closed when the mask comes off. I see the reflection of the little boy inside of me sitting in the darkness choking on tears. This was my vocabulary, “Why are you hurting me? I trust you.” Hiding in plain sight was the pain, the confusion, the anger, and the fear. This was not suppose to be my journey. This was not suppose to be ME.
